Well I'll tell you what it isn't, and that's drone bombing new countries.
Well, in terms of energy then, there are many sources of alternative energy that aren't nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is, however, the most dangerous. I understand the normal counter to this is France's program, but the problem is that we have, at current, no sustainable way to keep the radioactive waste. Additionally, plants leak a little radiation routinely, which doesn't seem like a lot at first but little by little it does add up. And that's not even taking into account things like the leak that just happened in Germany, which they say is safe for all but the guy who was working there and is hospitalized. Or that half of Europe still has radioactivity from Chernobyl, or that something like Three-Mile-Island could happen again. There are just too many risks with Nuclear power, when there are so many other systems, many of which are getting cheaper. And what's the good old adage of capitalism? You compete for lower prices and better stuff. So if you invest in green technologies it'll get cheaper, it'll get better. So why focus our money on something that has many risks when we have solar power, tidal power, and wind power to use? The technology is getting really incredible - as part of IB HL Physics IB requires that we do a section on alternative energy, and just...wow. There's a lot out there people don't know about. Like Tidal power omg.
